Using microphone on FujiFilm X100F

Since the movie quality has been improved on X100F over the previous model, you might be interested to record some videos with X100F. The X100F do have a mic input, so you can get better audio using external mic.

The mic input jack is available since X100T, so X100T and X100F they both have external microphone input jack. Sadly the type of mic input is 2.5mm audio jack, both cameras use the same 2.5mm audio jack.

You can use microphone made by fujifilm, the ST-1 microphone, which have the same 2.5mm audio jack, so you can just plug-in to the camera. But what if i want to use other microphone such as rode? well in that case you are going to need an adapter.

You need to have the 3.5mm female to 2.5mm male audio jack adapter/converter, you can find this adapter somewhere online. The 3.5mm female to 2.5mm male audio converter looks like this:

Once you have the adapter/converter, you can plug-in your external mic to X100F, but make sure that your external mic has it's own power source, otherwise you won't hear anything, it won't record any sound at all.

And one more thing, on the camera setting you need to choose 'mic' instead of 'remote', you can find this setting under movie record setup, also there should be mic level adjustment which can be handy for adjusting the sound level.
